about

For Manning devotees and completists only (please be warned!!!)

If anyone is remotely interested in what I/Guy was doing before the first proper debut album ("Tall Stories For Small Children") was released in 1999...well, I was in a number of local Leeds projects:

Up first is 'Let's Eat!'

Let's Eat! - thought up in 1982 at the augural WOMAD festival. Simon (Baskind) & I decided to put a new band together when we got back home. Named after the 'Hatfield & The North' fabulous single release.

Here, presented for your amusement, are the only and unreleased (...and you can properly hear why!) very very rough recordings that we made together. We were young...and my singing / playing had not settled down tbh (not that it ever did)...ok apologies over.

Some eagar beavers amongst you may recognise some of these fledgling offerings as they were cannibalised for later Manning albums

...enjoy!?

credits

released October 10, 1983

The first lineup was Simon Baskind (Drums/Perc), Me/Guy (Guitar, Vox), Anthony Marks (Keys, BVs), William Tanner (Bass). William left us after a while and was replaced by Chris Laffey on the Bass.
Music & Lyrics mainly composed by me except for "The Angels.." and "Funtown" (Marks) and "T.I.C" plus "Matchbox Logic" (Manning/Baskind). Though we all had a hand in arranging it!
